US supercomputer maker Cray Inc bought in £1bn deal
Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) has offered Cray Inc, maker of some of the quickest supercomputers in the world.
Cray Inc’s machines are capable of processing trillions of calculations per second and have been used by means of the UK’s Met Office and GCHQ.
Shares in Cray jumped by 18% after saying the $1.3bn (£1bn) deal.
HPE chief government Antonio Neri said: “Answers to some of society’s most pressing challenges are buried in large amounts of data.”
He added: “Only through processing and examining this records will we be capable to liberate the answers to fundamental challenges acrossmedicine, local weather change, space and more.”
The employer predicts that the market for factsservices and storage from areas such as artificialGenius is anticipated to grow from $28bn lastyearto $35bn by using 2021.
